Kyle Campbell, P.E.
Principal Engineer

Background
Kyle entered the geotechnical engineering field in 1985. His experience includes deep foundation design, shored excavations, site seismic response analyses, slope stability, pavement designs, MSE retaining wall designs, and ground improvement. Kyle has worked on hundreds of residential, industrial, commercial, retail, office, and mixed-use projects in his career as a geotechnical engineer. As ESNW’s managing member, Kyle oversees the day-to-day operations of the company

Principal Engineer

Background
Ray’s experience in the geotechnical engineering field extends back to 1991. His project experience includes deep foundation designs, shored excavations, and site seismic response analysis. Prior to joining ESNW, Ray was acting manager of the geotechnical services division at Earth Consultants, Inc. His responsibilities included oversight of the geotechnical division, project coordination, design review, and management of soils laboratory analysis and QA/QC.

Lewis Conklin
Construction Services Project Manager

Background
Lewis has consulted in the geotechnical industry since 1989 and currently manages the earthwork construction and stormwater monitoring department at ESNW. He has been directly involved in thousands of residential and commercial projects. His construction monitoring experience includes earthwork observation and testing of site mass grading, utility trench backfill, building foundations and slab subgrades, pile-supported foundations, shoring, retaining walls, rockeries, roadway subgrades, and asphalt density testing. Lewis has completed building surcharge monitoring programs and provided turbidity monitoring plans, turbidity monitoring field services, and DOE-certified erosion control observations. He serves as a liaison between the contractor, project manager, and client, and is responsible for providing field recommendations and understanding project plans and specifications. Lewis also has environmental experience with Phase I ESAs, UST decommissioning, asbestos inspections, and well monitoring.

In his current role as Construction Services Project Manager, Lewis supervises the geotechnical field technicians. He routinely manages dozens of active projects and provides field dispatching services for clients and contractors.

Senior Environmental Project Manager

Background
Ted has worked in the environmental field since 1990. His project experience includes Phase I and Phase II ESAs, hazardous materials/waste compliance audits, stormwater discharge compliance audits, preparation of SWPPPs and TESC plans, wastewater discharge permitting and monitoring activities, wetland delineations, UST closures, soil/groundwater contamination remediation projects, asbestos/lead-based paint surveys, and abatement projects. Ted has been serving as our senior environmental consultant since joining the ESNW team in 2013.

Associate Principal Geologist

Background
Scott has been involved in the geotechnical and engineering geology fields since 1999. His project experience includes deep foundation designs, shored excavations, geological hazards assessments, groundwater impacts and infiltration evaluations, and site seismic response analyses. Prior to joining ESNW, Scott was a staff geologist for Earth Consultants, Inc. His responsibilities included appropriate and effective scope (proposal) preparation, field explorations, laboratory analyses and using analytical programs to meet project objectives, identifying and addressing geologic hazards, and preparing geotechnical and/or geological evaluations and reports in accordance with project requirements. Scott has been with ESNW since 2005, and as a Senior Project Manager, provides value to clients on a variety of residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects.

Steve Avril
Project Manager

Background
Steve has been involved in the geotechnical field since 2000. Steve’s experience includes earthwork observation, density testing of fill soil, foundations, roadways, piles, slopes, and rockeries on a variety of residential and commercial projects. His laboratory experiences include standard and modified proctor analysis, sieve and moisture analysis, and Atterberg Limits. Steve can provide turbidity monitoring plans, turbidity monitoring services, and erosion control observations. Steve’s environmental experience includes contaminated soil removal and site remediation as well as bioremediation, including soil and water sampling and culturing of protozoan, fungal, and bacterial microbes for use as bioremediation vectors for in-site remediation of contaminated soil and water. Steve is also experienced with well monitoring as has a working knowledge of environmental and geotechnical equipment. Prior to his current position as a Project Geologist, Steve was a senior-level geotechnical field technician performing construction monitoring and project management.

Tyler Scalise
Senior Project Geologist

Background
Tyler joined the ESNW team in 2006 and has been directly involved in the wide variety of engineering geology and geotechnical services ESNW provides. His construction-monitoring experience includes earthwork observation and testing of site mass grading, evaluating existing fill, utility trench backfill, building foundation and slab subgrade preparation, pile-supported systems, slope stability, soil stabilization, retaining walls, rockeries, shoring, roadway preparations, and the implementation of quality, cost-efficient solutions specific to conditions encountered in the field. Tyler has experience with hundreds of unique construction projects throughout the greater Puget Sound region and is actively involved with managing our field staff. His knowledge of the depositional environments, geomorphology, and hydrogeology of both the Puget Sound area and Eastern Washington allows him to provide geotechnical site evaluation, original grade determination, site classification, geologic hazard assessment, project feasibility, development design, and site response evaluation over time.

Background
Henry has been with ESNW since graduating from the University of Washington in 2012. As a Senior Project Engineer, Henry focuses on providing pre-development geotechnical design and consulting services for a variety of residential and commercial developments. His experience includes subsurface exploration, site and slope reconnaissance, soil infiltration analysis, slope stability analysis, MSE retaining wall design, and providing geotechnical development recommendations such as temporary excavation support, deep and shallow foundations support, and building subgrade preparation.

Keven Hoffmann, P.E., G.E.
Associate Principal Engineer

Background
Keven began working for ESNW in 2012 as a geotechnical field technician, providing construction monitoring services such as in-situ density testing, shoring installation observation, site erosion control evaluation, and foundation subgrade verification on a variety of residential and commercial projects within the greater Puget Sound region. Since then, Keven has gained experience with shored excavation design, site seismic response analyses, slope stabilization, pavement design, MSE retaining wall design, stormwater infiltration feasibility and design, and ground improvement on a variety of residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use projects. In his current role as a Senior Project Engineer, Keven provides project supervision on a variety of projects and aims to deliver quality consultation services to each of his clients.

Background
With Adam’s love for the outdoors and nature, he says it’s a clear choice why he became a geologist. At ESNW, Adam’s experience includes subsurface investigations for various projects, soil and geological research, geotechnical report preparation, foundation element design, soil infiltration analysis, and MSE wall designs. Adam also has experience providing earthwork observation, testing, and related consulting services during construction on a variety of projects.

Senior Project Geologist

Background
Chase joined ESNW in 2014 shortly after graduating from the University of Washington. He began as a field technician, gaining real-world and practical experience working with various developers and construction outfits. As a Staff Geologist, his current role is to provide geotechnical design and consultation services for a variety of residential and commercial development projects. In his time with ESNW, Chase has worked throughout the greater Puget Sound region performing a variety of geotechnical site investigations, explorations, and field testing. His experience includes soil infiltration analyses, MSE retaining wall designs, geologic hazard area evaluations, and shallow- and deep-foundation design.

Kyler’s environmental project experience includes Phase I and Phase II ESAs, UST removal observations and confirmatory soil sampling, and Asarco Tacoma smelter plume characterization soil sampling.
